Montpelier Center for Arts and Education 2008 Class Schedule
Call the Center at 804-883-7378 to register for any of the following classes.
After School Enrichment Program -
A state licensed program for children ages
5 to 12. Bus transportation is available
for South Anna Elementary and Liberty Middle
Schools. Children have the oportunity to
attend classes offered at the Center after
school, such as art, music, and dance. There
is ample time to complete homework with
tutoring available. Daily activities include
art, outside play time, snack time, library
and movie day. Special activities are planned
for early release days. Hours of operation
are 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. There
is a non-refundable registration fee of
$50, which includes a family membership
to the Center. Weekly tuition fee is $80.
Start day is September 5, 2007.

Arts and Crafts
Introduction to Drawing - Instructor
Kevin Orlosky
Drawing is the most basic fundamental
element to creating art. It is essential
to have strong drawing skills to become
a well rounded artist. This exploration
will introduce students to various tools,
methods, and techniques that will give
them a full understanding of the versatility
of drawing. No experience necessary for
the class. 10 weeks, minimum of 5. $138
guest/$120 members.
Thursday evenings, Art Studio,7 to 8:30
p.m. January 24 - April 3.
Introduction to Oil Painting -
Instructor Kevin Orlosky
Oils are the most widely used and versatile
paint that artists use today. This class
is designed for students with no prior
experience using oils, but want to learn
proper practices and effective techniques
of the medium. Students will leave the
class with confidence and a solid understanding
of oil painting. 10 weeks. Minimum of
5. $199 guest/$175 members.
Tuesday evenings - Art Studio, 7 to
9 p.m. January 22 - April 1.
Intermediate Oil Painting - Instructor
Betsy Taylor
This class is for students with a working
knowledge of oil. Impression and cubism
techniques, along with glazing and impasto
styles will be covered. However, each
student will be encouraged to explore
their own direction with their own subject
matter as well as those presented by the
instructor. Materials extra. Supply list
available. 12 week session. Minimum of
7 students. $229 guest/$199 members. Monday
mornings 10 to Noon. Art Studio.

Music and Voice
Guitar for Kids - Instructor Christine Desantis
Group Lessons for grades 3-8. Limited to 6 kids per class. Monday afternoons
4:30-5:15 and 5:30-6:15. Five 8 week sessions. $15 per class for a total of $120.
NO ELECTRIC GUITARS
Materials $22 (Lesson Book with CD and theory workbook). Students provide the acoustic guitar (nylon or steel
string).

Piano Lessons - Instructor Deanna Kulla
Private Instruction for beginner and advanced students, ages 6 to adult. Call at 804-883-6158 to schedule. Must
have keyboard or piano at home. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. $25 per 30 minute lesson.
Class Policies
- Full payment must accompany registration.
- Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment will be cancelled.
- Late registrations are welcomed if space is available.
- There is a 50% cancellation fee if student cancels in less that 7 prior to start date of class.
- Cancellations or no shows at the first class will not receive a refund unless it is due to unusual circumstances.
- If a class is cancelled by the Center, students will receive a full refund.
- Classes cancelled due to inclement weather or instructor illness will be rescheduled.
