After School Enrichment Program |
This is our 4th year for our After School Enrichment Program at the Center. Our programs follows the Hanover School Calendar Year. Activities include outside play, library visits, homework, snacks, and creative activities and special guests through out the year. Sheila Knighton, our Director, has over 11 years with the Montpelier Learning Center and taught in the Louisa Public School System for 10 years prior. She is the current owner of the Montpelier Learning Center, a ½ day preschool program for 3 to 4 years old. Hours of operation are 3:15 - 6pm Monday through Friday. Buses from South Anna and Liberty will drop off the Center. There is nonrefundable registration of $50, which included a family membership to the Center. Class Policies: - Full payment must accompany registration. - Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment will be cancelled. - Late registrations are welcomed if space is available. - There is a 50% cancellation fee if student cancels in less that 7 prior to start date of class. - Cancellations or no shows at the first class will not receive a refund unless it is due to unusual circumstances. - If a class is cancelled by the Center, students will receive a full refund. - Classes cancelled due to inclement weather or instructor illness will be rescheduled. |

Piano Lessons - Instructor Deanna Kulla Private Instruction for beginner and advanced students, ages 6 to adult. Call Instructor at 804-883-6158 to schedule. Must have keyboard or piano at home. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. $25 per 30 minute lesson. |
Gymnastics |
Flipping Angels Gymnastics, Crystal Dillingham, Instructor A creative gymnastics program promoting balance, coordination, and overall flexibility. In class, we are full of imagination, trips to the zoo, riding roller coasters or being every animal from Ape to Zebra. Flipping and many gymnastic skills on the mat along with child size equipment like balance beam, incline mat, mailbox, and minibar will be everything your child needs to strengthen their bodies and have lots of fun! USA Gymnastics Member and Safety Certification. Space is limited! $55 per 6-week session. Show on final day of class. Call 804-836-9702 with further questions. Montpelier School Tae Kwon Do - Cole and Barbara Ellis, and Brianne Adams Learn a defensive form of Martial Arts under the guidance of a family of experienced instructors, all of whom are 3rd degree Black Belts. Students are from ages 6 to adults. Classes meet Monday nights from 7 to 8 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 11 to noon. Tuition is $35 for once a week classes, $45 for twice a week. Basic Yoga - Instructor Hinde Reed Enjoy this relaxing and rejuvenating Hatha Yoga Class designed to acquaint the beginner with basic yoga as well as to allow experienced students to continue their practice. Diane Hale School of Dance - Instructors Diane Hale, Anne Byrne, Ellen Williams, and Tara Sabling Monday, October 5th - End of School Year Classes: Monday, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., ages 3 to 4, Pre-ballet, creative movement and tumbling Monday 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., ages 5 to 7, Ballet and Jazz $175 per semester, $20 registration fee, 1 hour weekly sessions. Ballroom Dance - Instructor Brian K. Westerlund Wednesday Nights in the Ballroom (6 week session) Current session: February 24th - March 31st Upcoming Session: April 14th - May 19th Beginners: These classes will introduce students to the basic steps in several ballroom dances including Swing (4 Count, East Coast, and SingleTime or “Jitterbug”, Smooth (Waltz and Foxtrot), Latin (Rumba and Cha Cha). The group format class will be taught by experienced local instructors that will work on basic dance technique and building confidence in dancers. Singles welcome! 6:30 to 7:30pm $40 member or $48 for guest Intermediate: These classes will continue the dancer’s education in the dances covered in beginning classes. Classes will move more quickly through steps and dancers should have previous dance experience or having attended beginning class. 7:30 to 8:30 pm $40 members or $48 guests |
Open Studio Thursday mornings from 9am to 2pm Bring your supplies and come paint in our studio. Quiet and friendly atmosphere. On the first Wednesday of every month, we will hold a Free Creative Workshop from 10am-3pm. Bring several pieces of completed work in any genre (painting, sculpting, woodwork, quilting, etc) to exchange ideas, techniques and creativity and for creative guidance from your peers and Sandy McGrew. Line Dancing - Instructor Judy Chiles Monday Nights in the Ballroom (see below for dates and times) Want to have some fun? Get started with the basics of line dancing. Intermediate Oil Painting – Instructor Betsy Taylor Monday, January 11 to March 29 10am - 12pm in the Art Studio $229 guest/$199 member This class is for students with a working knowledge of oil. Impression and cubism techniques along with glazing and impasto styles will be covered. However each student will be encouraged to explore their own direction with their own subject matter alas well as those presented by the instructor. Materials extra. Open Media Art Class – Instructor Betsy Taylor Monday, April 12th to May 17th 10am - 12pm in the Art Studio $120 guest/$100 member Classes open to artists of all media, including oils, pastels, colored pencils and watercolors, and all experiences. Short 6 week session. |
Encaustic Workshop - Instructor Lynda Ray Sunday, April 25th 10am-4pm in the Art Studio $78 guest/$65 member (includes lunch - additional materials fee of $20 not included) One day workshop on Sunday, Feb. 21 from 10 am to 4 pm in Art Studio. Lynda is a professional artist whose painting have been shown locally and nationally plus published. Encaustic painting is a simple process that produces impressive results with luminous and jewel-like surfaces and textures. Heated wax can be fused and melted to create layers for collage of fabric, paper, and organic materials. The surfaces can be rough and sculptural or smooth and bright. It is ideal for working abstractly or more realistically. Maximum of 6 students. |

Private Music Lessons -Instructor Claude Arthur Beginning Monday February 1st, ½ hour lesson for $20. Teaching specialties include Beginning and Intermediate Guitar, from Rock to Blues to Jazz to Classical, Beginning to Advanced Electric and Upright bass, Beginning and Intermediate Mandolin, Beginning Banjo and Music Theory and History. All are taught with an emphasis on Music Theory, Style and Rhythm. Claude has studied Classical Guitar with ex-Andre Segovia protégé Jesu Silva, and has studied Contrabass with Richmond Symphony principal bassist Paul Bedell and Airmen of Note bassist Paul Henry.
