Sara Linda Poly
Sara Linda Poly is known for her sweeping skies and landscapes. Her work is inspired by local eastern scenes, western vistas and other locations to which her love of plein air painting has taken her. Born in 1945, she resided in the Philadelphia area until 1977 when she moved to Washington, DC. Her studies were done at the Philadelphia Academy of Arts, Montgomery College of Art and Design, NOVA Community College and with various local and national artists. Her travels around the country, particularly the west and abroad, led her to focus on landscape. Sara has owned a graphic arts and illustration business, went on to do portraitures and worked as an assistant gallery director. Presently she works full time painting and teaching nationally and abroad. All her local classes are on location in beautiful settings throughout the northern Virginia, Maryland and metro Washington area.
Sara’s students concentrate on simplifying the complex elements found in nature as they produce their plein air paintings. Learning to see differently, with attention to composition, design, value, color and light, students will explore their personal reaction to the landscape. Demonstrations, critiques, personal attention and encouragement are generously given.
