The Montpelier Center for Arts & Education is developing an outdoor cultural and educational setting known as the Village Green.
As a gateway to western Hanover, this public space is designed to enhance the learning experiences and celebratory gatherings through an expanded lawn with performing areas and an educational exhibit.
Utilizing the front lawn entrances, the Village Green design complements the interior 1929 building. This inviting and engaging project features a performance area, brick court yard and walkways, a rose garden, a serpentine wall, and an out door exhibit on the area of transportation.
A brick walkway invites visitors to a Colonial herb garden at Sycamore Tavern. This connector will strengthen the visual and historic association between the Tavern and the Montpelier Center.
The Montpelier Center and Sycamore Tavern have been named Virginia Historic Landmarks, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and are contributing members to the Montpelier Historic District.
Joining your neighbors’ efforts, you are encouraged to support the creation of an inviting focal point for learning and outdoor enjoyment. Your investment in the Village Green at the Montpelier Center for Arts & Education will serve this region for generations.
