The Montpelier Center houses one of the oldest galleries in Hanover County. While showcasing some of the best in local and regional art, we also serve as a satellite of the dynamic arts community in Central Virginia.
GALLERY/BUILDING HOURS: Mon-Thurs: 9am to 9pm Friday: 9am to 6pm Saturday: 10am to 2 pm
Surrounding our spacious, light-filled atrium ballroom are three gallery walls which are home to rotating art exhibits. The Montpelier Center gallery hosts local and internationally known artists, the South-Atlantic Juried Exhibition in the spring, an annual traveling exhibit from our educational partner, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and the Grand Local Holiday Show & Sale featuring local artists which caps off our year.
Many of our exhibiting artists have both studied in or taught classes in our art studio space. We invite you to explore your creative side through one of those classes, add to your personal art collection, or just come to enjoy the work that fills our walls.
As local artist and Richmond dentist Baxter Perkinson, Jr. noted: "...Art is a three letter word...[it] should be as well understood as the concepts as 'mom', 'dad', and 'pie'. " Come experience art! It is for everyone!
Create, Explore, Educate, Celebrate! Located on historic Route 33, The Montpelier Center for Arts & Education is a cornerstone of country living in Western Hanover County.
