You may have noticed that a vehicle crashed into our beloved Montpelier Center sign this summer. The car also did major damage to the serpentine brick wall and few other small items.
It was necessary to repair the wall for the safety of the children using the grounds, but we have been unable to replace the sign. There is an obstacle...
The insurance company for the driver of the car found a loophole. They will not be paying. Our insurance will pay a portion, but with a deductible and depreciation, we are left far short. By no fault of our own, we have a mess to untangle.
The sign is important to The Center. It announces upcoming events. It is our chief source of advertising and it is a community landmark. We planned to use this inconvenient opportunity to upgrade the 30-year-old sign and improve our visibility. Hundreds of thousands drive by The Montpelier Sign every year.
Most of you know we are a small, private nonprofit. We do not get direct government funding. The Center is not a county agency. We rely on rental income, event fees, and community generosity to keep the building safe and the lights on.
Help The Montpelier Center and be a part of the solution. If we can get 200 people to donate $100, we will have enough to cover the gap. In exchange, each of the 200 people will have a day they are honored and thanked on the new sign when it goes up in 2024. Anyone able to give $500 will get a special reward, seven days on the new sign.
The Montpelier Center Sign is how the community learns about our classes, events, festivals, concerts, and all our community activities. Now it can also be how we thank our generous donors. Click the button below to contribute today!
