About the Quilters
Members also gather at The Montpelier Center on the second Fridays and Saturdays of each month for all-day sit and stitch sessions where they work on their own or group projects. Many members create donation quilts for various worthy non-profit organizations. In the past they have supported The Virginia Memorial Quilt Project, Race for a Cure, Virginia Food Bank, W.H.E.A.T., and McGuire Veterans Hospital. Chapter members support The Virginia Quilt Museum in Harrisonburg by hosting on selected Saturdays and raising funds through quilt raffles.

To the Next Adventure
By Mary Knight; Quilted by Denise Zapf. My inspiration to make this quilt was to learn to make a mariner's compass block. After making one block, I wanted to make more. "Variety is the spice of life." That's why no two compasses are alike.

Orphan Quilt
Pieced by Betsy Scott. Assembled by Betsy Scott, Brenda Wimmer, and Becky Brown. Quilted by Brenda Wimmer. Many quilters have collections of "orphan blocks" which are samples of work that for some reason never end up in a quilt. The colors could have been wrong, or sometimes we quilters just want to make a trial block to see how it works. This quilt was put together from Betsy's "orphans" and is a collage of blocks she made and saved over a period of years.

Not quite a Family Heirloom
Made by Gwendolyn Waranis. Our family’s heirlooms are few: my grandmother’s cookie cutters, my mother’s wedding ring, an aunt’s empty battered trunk. But if I could fill that trunk with imagined family treasures, it might hold something like this wall-hanging. Perhaps begun in the old country of remnants from family left behind. Then finished with bits from their new life in this country, with colors from both flags. I can only imagine.

Heirloom Baby Quilt
Made by Glenda Ottaway and Vicki Welsh. This quilt was made for Glenda's first Great Granddaughter that will be born in November. The arcs were made in the 1960's by Glenda's Grandmother. Glenda arranged them in a modern layout and the quilt was quilted by Glenda's daughter, Vicki. This will be a multi-generation family heirloom.
